In Line Pouring Bartending

Many of today’s nightclubs and bars are filled to capacity. And many often have lines of customers outside waiting to get in. People are crushed up against the bar trying to place their orders and the wait stations are filled with waiters and waitresses trying to place their orders. With all these demands for drinks the bartenders have to work pretty fast to keep up. A slow bartender will make more unhappy customers than drinks. Of course a bartender that can’t keep up will usually become an unemployed bartender in no time.

To help keep up with the high demand, bartenders have had to develop methods of working quicker without sacrificing quality. The need to avoid spillage and waste is also a high priority in their efforts to keep management happy.

One of the ways a bartender can work faster is by coming up with ways to get the alcohol and the mixers into the glasses quicker. In line pouring is a very good way to do this. When there are several drinks using the same alcohol, the glasses can be placed in a line and the alcohol is poured into all the glasses without the bartender stopping and lifting the bottle in between each glass.

When the glasses are places close against each other, this method provides a very efficient method of quickly pouring the alcohol. Very little, if any spillage usually results. When the mixers are the same too, the time to make a lot of drinks is reduced to the time it would take to make only a few.

In line pouring gives the bartenders a chance to keep up with the orders, which allows them to take even more orders. The quicker a drink can be made the more drinks can be sold. The increased service makes the customers happy and the increased sales make the management and owners happy.

The next time you’re in a busy nightclub, take a look behind the bar. Look for the row of glasses places up against each other. Chances are you’ll see in line pouring in action.
